Context
In the realm of visualizing and collaborating on spatial data, the demand for an intuitive and efficient platform was evident. HxDR sought to improve its capabilities by introducing a feature designed to streamline the creation and sharing of 3D/2D projects and geospatial data through immersive virtual tours.
Challenge
The complexity of navigating vast amounts of data on a global scale posed significant challenges. Different data types, categories, and their specific availability across the globe made data discovery and visualization a complex task. Additionally, the introduction of a 3D/2D virtual tour builder brought challenges related to quick tour creation, annotation placement, and incorporating diverse data types.
Solution
Data filters:
Fixed element: Filter panel displaying all the data categories available per categories or locations.
Contextual element: Data stripe at the bottom to provide a contextual overview based on selected filters. The advantage of this strip is to easily navigate through data and meshes efficiently even if they are overlapping.

3D/2D Virtual Tour Builder::
Developed a tour builder tool allowing users to quickly create and share geospatial information.
Addressed the challenge of annotating in a 3D space by associating annotations specifically with snapshots.
Simplified the workflow by creating subtitles with links and annotations.
Introduced the capability to toggle assets during the tour but restricted users from changing data types.
Implemented a timeline displaying snapshots based on their chronological order in the tour.

Recognizing obstacles in data navigation and overlap, I took charge of implementing solutions. I led the execution of the design by introducing key elements like the fixed filter panel and contextual data stripe. Additionally, I developed and prototyped the interface for the data filters, ensuring a seamless user experience.
In my role as a UX researcher and designer, I spearheaded the development of HxDR's 3D/2D Virtual Tours feature. I meticulously mapped user journeys, crafted use cases, facilitated workshops, and prototyped designs. I dedicated extensive effort to refining the user interface and workflow of the tour builder, overcoming challenges like quick tour creation, precise annotation placement, and optimal data stripe usage. These endeavors culminated in a significantly improved platform, offering users a seamless and intuitive experience for visualizing and collaborating on spatial data through the virtual tour builder.
These efforts contributed to HxDR's evolution, providing users with a more intuitive platform for spatial data visualization and collaboration through the virtual tour builder.
